Cancer, cancer, cancer…..And now stage IV metastatic breast cancer.
It’s intentional to have you read it 3 times… why? The subject of this letter, our dear friend, Heather, has heard that awful and life-changing word in the form of a diagnosis 4 times.
Breast cancer found its way into Heather Pratt James story April 2020. She fought cancer alone and isolated as Covid kept us at a distance. Heather, the sole income for her family, fought cancer, worked full time all while being an amazing mom to her 2 school age kids.
Round two was unexpected, of course. However, Heather remained hopeful and positive.
Round three was such a blindside. Tired and worn out physically, mentally and financially from the fights she’d already waged, it seemed impossible to face all of that again. Because of the love of her family and friends, Heather stepped back into the ring to fight, yet again.
Now: Metastatic breast cancer- stage 4. Round four knocked our beautiful Heather to her knees. She is in for the fight of her life, for her life. Heather’s finances have hit the breaking point as she is fighting this beast yet again. Unfortunately Heather needs to work as much as she can to provide for her family’s basic needs: shelter, food, medical insurance, etc. With this latest diagnosis and need for much more aggressive treatment, she is not able to work as many hours as are needed to make ends meet, let alone pay her portion of the out of pocket medical expenses.
Here’s where we come in, a group of close friends on the frontline with her trying to give her the encouragement and support to get through each day. She needs us and the community to help ease her burden. Our hope is that we can do what we can to make anything easier for her. Her biggest fear, other than losing her life, is not being able to pay bills and basic living expenses. That’s the reality. She’s provided for her family by herself and has never asked or expected help… ever! She’s got hopes and dreams for the future and we want them to come to fruition. But, again, we come as a humble group trying to help our friend. Thank you for your time and consideration… ANYTHING helps and is so greatly appreciated!
